Fab Find Friday: Joss & Main

May 31, 2013 /
Uncategorized

I discovered “Joss & Main” about a year ago.  It is an addictive website that shows collections of designer home decor items at great sale prices.  You can check it out at: www.jossandmain.com

They put together “Events” that you can shop from.  The events are like a collection of items that have the same look or theme.  These collections are kept on the website a matter of days.  The negative: you have to make a decision…

Pretty Pallets

May 31, 2013 /
Uncategorized

A few Fridays ago, I posted about pallets for Fab Find Friday.  I had gotten a few pallets from a local store.  I sanded and repainted them to be used as picture displays.  Here is one of them…

Didn’t it turn out fun?!  And seriously: such a cheap & easy project!  I started by sanding it down with a high grit sandpaper.  Thank you to the gentleman in Wal*mart who suggested the serious grit sandpaper {I used…

Vintage Frames: Reworked

May 29, 2013 /
Uncategorized

I adore vintage frames.  I especially love ones that have intricate details.  At auctions, they are one thing I always have to bid on.  Even my brother and husband can spot a “Rachel frame” to bid on, just in case I miss seeing one come across the auction block. Always nice to have my boys watching out for me. :)

Frames are such a great product to reuse.  They usually don’t get too much abuse, so they…

Pattern Palooza!

May 28, 2013 /
Uncategorized

It’s time to bring the pattern conversation full circle!  Some patterns I can’t leave unmentioned…

Chevron – has really jumped up on the charts lately.  Chevron is a very trendy pattern, and adds a little “edge” to the traditional stripe pattern.  [notice the ikat pillows in the first pic!]

Fab Find Friday: Thrift Store Style

May 24, 2013 /
Uncategorized

As many of you know already, I love thrifting!  There is so much thrill in finding something that has lost its original value to others, and reinventing it into something fabulous!  You can find me in a thrift store at least once a week.  Here are some fabulous finds from my trip today…

My fav new pattern: Ikat

May 22, 2013 /

Ikat…

I got to be honest… I have been raving over this pattern for at least 6 months now, and I just learned how to pronounce it today.  Ikat = ee-cot!  Thank you dictionary.com! :)  I feel much smarter now.  Haha.designedtothenines.com The way traditional ikat happens is by tie-dying the yarns of the fabric before it is woven.  Double ikat is done in only three countries: India, Japan, and Indonesia.  Double ikat is when…

Houndstooth is such a classic pattern.  It seems to add a touch of sophistication to any piece or space.

Most traditional: black and white houndstooth.  The high contrast makes such a strong statement…

Let’s Talk Pattern: Earn Your Stripes

May 14, 2013 /

Patterns… timeless geometric repetitions we love so much, we give it a name.

I thought it would be fun to take a look at pattern – and the impact it has on design.  Choosing patterns and mixing patterns is not always easy, but the payoff is huge for those who take the risk!

In this first post, we’ll look at stripes.  And let me tell ya… the spaces I found for this post have earned their…

Sunny Fab Find Friday

May 11, 2013 /
Uncategorized

I am rejoicing over the sunshine!  What a great evening for wine, good conversation, a good companion, and a front porch.

I decided to use this bright inspiration for Fab Find Friday.  Introducing… sweet, sunny-inspired finds!

I have this exact pillow in our living room…  I paired it with a solid yellow pillow that’s a little bit bigger.  Adds a nice pop of white & fun pattern on our grey sofa!  Love!  To say that I’m obsessed with…
