Custom Flower Arrangement

July 30, 2013 /
Uncategorized

Hello all!  Here’s to a glorious Tuesday! Hope you enjoyed the simple tips on how to choose the best arrangement for your home that I posted yesterday.

Today, I’m sharing a floral arrangement I recently put together for a client.  She has a wonderfully large kitchen with a vaulted ceiling.

A tall arrangement was just what we needed to fill one of the areas where the ceiling comes to a peak.  The arrangements started with…

Some fake plants make me crazy.  Some even make me queasy.  However, when chosen correctly and placed well; branches, succulents, grasses, and silk flowers can really make a beautiful statement.

Designer Inspiration: Sarah Richardson

July 27, 2013 /
Uncategorized

One of my fav design shows on HGTV: Sarah 101.  The designer: Sarah Richardson.  I’m tellin’ ya: this girl is good!

A few things I love about Sarah Richardson:
     1.  She shops at thrift / antique stores.
     2.  She’s not afraid to ask for help: she has amazing design assistants!
[Tommy rocks.]
     3.  She mixes multiple patterns of fabric in every room she designs.
     4.  She embraces bold colors.
     5.  She cares for…

Fab Find Friday: Landscape Art

July 26, 2013 /
Uncategorized

The perfect piece of artwork can be a challenge to find.

I have recently been searching for an art piece for a client’s living room.  We wanted something that worked well with the antique furniture she has in the room – but also something that was slightly updated to keep the room looking fresh.  An abstract landscape was the perfect answer.

This piece is what I would call “transitional” – which is really just a term to title items that…

Just keep painting, painting, painting…

July 24, 2013 /
Uncategorized

Phew!  What a week!  I’ve missed you guys.  I haven’t posted for over a week.  I’ve been painting, painting, packing, and painting… Phil and I are now homeowners!  Woo hoo!

We painted absolutely every square inch of wall and ceiling before moving in.  Thankfully we have an amazing family, who happen to be total troopers when it comes to painting [and cleaning, and moving]!

My mom and I are now developing a work out video based on…

Super Steal Sunday?!

July 14, 2013 /
Uncategorized

Oh my – I missed Fab Find Friday again!  All I can say… please forgive me.  And: check out this awesome find!  I’m naming it Super Steal Sunday!  :)  These windows were such a great steal.

Potentially the best find of my summer: these old windows on an auction!

At the auction, they sold everything out of this small building for one price.  It was well, disgusting – but I knew the…

Amazing Agate

July 11, 2013 /

I love natural elements.  The juxtaposition of branches or stone with sleek vases or frames is so fabulous.  The natural can add warmth and texture to any space.

My most recent natural obsession: agate.  Here are some great agate finds for your home!

1. Threshold Glass Faux Agate Accent Table by Target
2. Brazilian Agate Sconce by Anthropologie
3. Threshold Oblong Pillow with Faux Agate by Target
4. Malakos fabric by Robert Allen

DIY Lath Board Love

July 11, 2013 /
Uncategorized

Welp, I promised a little DIY – so here we go!

I scored this awesome lath board piece on an auction a while back.  It came with a bunch of old windows, and I even considered throwing the piece out.  I know, I know…what was I thinking?  I have a serious, limited-storage issue so I have to choose my “I’m keeping this because of some super-amazing project I’ll do with it in…

Anniversary Shopping Adventure

July 09, 2013 /
Uncategorized

What are a young husband and wife to do on a relaxing, anniversary-weekend getaway?! Our mission was clear: plan our days as little as possible, relax all day long, and spend time together.  And we did just that!  We took in a parade, and Despicable Me 2.  We also took in an unnecessary amount of food…ugh, not going to talk about that. :) And, much to my delight, we also did a little shopping!  Here are some…
