Addition Inspiration

Hello friends! Oh. My. Goodness. Did you think I fell off the face of the Earth? I kinda fell off the face of the world wide web, that’s for sure!

I have to admit – I’m sorry, but I’m kind of not sorry. I’m sorry – because I really love you guys following along on my blog. I love blog world, and I don’t want to disappoint you guys by not being present. But there’s something so refreshing about unplugging for a bit. From July 12 – July 19 I spent a week in beautiful Colorado – completely unplugged – and yet, so in tune to God’s beautiful creation and the people around me. I didn’t look at my cell phone for 6 days. Can you believe it?! Didn’t even touch the thing. Anyway – I’ll share more on that experience later.

But for now: I am working on some fabulous remodel projects. A rustic addition that is all about the outdoors, a fresh minimalist remodel, a sleek mid-century dining/living room, and others – my clients are keeping me on my toes! Today I want to share with you some of the images that are inspiring me for this rustic addition I am speaking of. So, here we go – let’s dive in!

The most important part of the addition = WINDOWS! It’s all about the outdoors, and we want it to feel like it has a seamless connection with the back yard space.

We are using wood flooring [that ties into the wood floor in other rooms on the main floor of the home] and wood car siding for the ceiling:

We are tossing around the idea of custom wainscoting:

Light, smoky blue wainscoting with crown to match:

[the trim in the image above looks more minty-sage, but isn’t the colored trim stunning?!]
Ooooh yes. Our space will be much more rustic, and not nearly as formal as the space above – but Yes… are you with me on the blue trim yet?

So then – do we add a red rug for a bold, warm pop? {I’m thinking YES!}

And just enough worn wood and metal to give it that perfect rustic feel:

Hm… a mood board may be the next thing on the list! Decisions to be made – but I am in love with this space already.

What do you think? Would you add that bold, red rug?!  Do you think we’re crazy for even considering blue trim?! I’d love to hear your thoughts.

There’s some updates happening in the Rardon household right now too! Think: new paint, new flooring, new furniture. I’ve been holding out on you guys! Progress is happening slow, but I’ll give you guys the insider info soon.
