Box Pleat Valance

These box cornices have been a great solution for many of my clients. Which is awesome, because I enjoy making them – and there are so many different ways that you can cover and customize them!

Cornice Board

They are the perfect mix of soft and simple. They add a soft element to the room with the fabric, but the upholstered cornice keeps the look clean. It says, “Hey, I’m just enough, without being too much.”

Today, I have a new style of window valance to show you. Introducing, Mr. Box Pleat:

This particular valance has 3 pleats across the front. Adding the pleats, and letting the fabric hang from a header board; makes the valance a little bit softer than the upholstered cornice.

We added hammered-finish antique bronze nailheads to add some interest and contrast at the top. The cording at the top was a last minute add, and I am so glad that we included it. It just gives it that really tailored look.

Since this is rolling out straight from the Rardon Design office, we can use any fabric that you like. My favorite decor: reasonable, tailored, & custom. We used this fabric from fabric.com.

Of course, we had to have matching pillows! The blue lantern pillow is this pillow from Target. We used a striped fabric from fabric.com [unfortunately, it is now sold out], and these buttons from Hobby Lobby – to create the smaller pillow.

Pillows

It’s amazing how much color, texture, and interest you can add with a simple window valance and pillows! They really took this wall space from drab to fab!
