Cranberry Lime Great Room

What do you do when you’re moving to a new home: you want a fresh look, you love lime/celery colored accents, and you have a cranberry sofa that must make the move with you to your new great room?

Well, how about first putting together a mood board (or two) with “Cranberry Lime” as your new inspiration?! Then, creating floor plans and a shopping list for your new space! Being excited about the potential of your new home can help your spirits during a big move.  It can give you clarity to purchase new furniture, art, & accessories that you will love. For some reason, when moving to a new home we expect ourselves to be able to get the new house to the same “finished” status of our previous home in approximately 6.58 days. Reality check: probably not going to happen! However – having a clear vision of what you want to achieve for your new space can help overcome the overwhelm.

‘Cause nobody wants to look at a painting of a cheeseburger that somehow you thought was so “edgy” and the perfect size for above your sofa – only to realize that you made a major decorating mistake while burnt out & hungry after the absolute stress of trying to make your new house feel like home, faster than a cheetah running across the African plain.

[Sorry – I have no advise on the whole packing boxes thing. To be honest, the day that Phil and I moved into our house was the same day that nearly everything we owned got thrown haphazardly into boxes. Not the best plan…] CranberryLimeMoodBoard1

These are mood boards that I created for said “Cranberry Lime” client. We want the space to feel light, comfortable, and fun – all while incorporating her favorite celery green accents & the couple’s cranberry sofa.  These images helped us talk about everything that the client loves and isn’t so crazy about. For example: when you look at the image above, we’re not thinking about putting both the paisley and large floral print chair in the same room [sigh of relief that Rachel hasn’t gone crazy] – but by seeing them next to each other with some surrounding accents, I could better understand which patterns my client is drawn to – and will be best for her new space.CranberryLimeMoodBoard2

Let’s be real: having an inspiration board, floor plans, shopping lists, and clear direction will help pull together any space successfully! Decorating should be fun! And now I’m off to Sonic – ’cause really, who doesn’t need a Cranberry Limeade right about now?!
