Touch of Rustic, Mint Bathroom
We wanted something a little unexpected in this guest bathroom. The bathroom doesn’t get used every day, and this client loves color – so we wanted an update that embraced color and had a little whimsy. We knew onyx would be a great option for the countertops, and the room’s color scheme began with the mint green onyx. The grey-toned wood-look vinyl plank floor was a favorite option when we were updating this client’s kitchen. It didn’t fit in the kitchen, but this bathroom was the perfect place to use the flooring: complimenting the wood tones of the existing vanity, but offering some contrast for the update. The bulky, wood mirror was a stumble-upon, steal-of-a-deal find; and became the bathroom’s showstopper! [Everyone always comments on that awesome mirror.] The details started falling into place with a teal shower curtain, rustic roller shade, and ceramic towel hooks. We color-matched the mint of the countertops to paint the wood center of the cabinetry hardware. The same teal became a background for a stenciled focal wall behind the toilet. The homeowner and I were inspired by the lines of the mirror, so we designed [and he built] a custom barn wood window valance and wall shelf for the room.
