My friends are amazing at giving gifts. Really. It’s like they understand me to the core -blessing me with things that I absolutely love, or something that I have been considering buying already. Seriously – I have one friend, in particular, who gets me gifts that make me think, “Holy popcorn, we are the same freakin’ person!”
Well, this gorgeous lady came to visit me a little while ago, so I knew I wanted to do something special for her. I’ve acquired some new skills in the past few years, perhaps the most notable: sewing! Aw- yeah, skillz-to-pay-the-billz! And what’s more special than a handmade gift?!
Decorative pillows are my jam right now – so I went that route. Check out this beaut!
I had been hoarding the piece of fabric on top of the pillow [knowing someday I would find the perfect use for it – yes!]. I had painted it when I was making items for the last Yuletide Market. I wanted to do text on the pillow, so I knew the painted top would be the perfect place for me to write with a paint pen. I had the yellow fabric left from this chair project.
I’m kind of obsessed with pom poms right now – so I had to add a little flair on the edges!
Here it is – ready for her to come visit. I used an old freezer basket [that I got on an auction], as a gift basket: Total win-win… it looks cute & is a fun gift as well!
It was waiting for her upon arrival in our guest bedroom. I didn’t photograph the other items – but I also tucked in an aluminum letter and 2 wooden, carved birds that I had found on thrifting and auction adventures.
I taped up a little paper with the same washi tape I used to create the cross-stitch rose, and the room was personalized & ready for her arrival!
One of my dreams is to have a line of spiritual & Scripture-inspired home decor. What do you think – would this pillow make the cut? What items would you love to give your friends as a gift, or have for your home? I would absolutely love to hear your thoughts! You can post them below. Thanks so much.
Have a wonderful weekend. -Rachel
